We are proud to announce Marlin Yard has re-branded itself as an organization. As of 1 October 2009, Marlin Yard Business Consultancy also known as MARLIN YARD operates as a department within www.marlinyard.org.

How it started

Marlin Yard was established as Marlin Yard Business Consultancy (MARLIN YARD) on February 28, 2003.

MARLIN YARD came to life due to the growing interest of local people who wanted to start a business for themselves but lacking the essential knowledge how or where to begin. After 3 years of research in the Netherlands and in the Netherlands Antilles, it appears that sole proprietors were in a great need for guidance in establishing a solid business.

After 15 years experience working in the Hotel-, Banking-, Contact Center-, ICT- and HRM industry sectors, the founder of MARLIN YARD, M. Marlin, started his advisory firm in the Netherlands. His clients were local entrepreneurs seeking his advice in realizing their businesses and marketing plans in the Netherlands. M. Marlin found a new challenge in branching out to the Caribbean, starting with St. Maarten N.A. The reason why he choose St. Maarten is for his ancestors (family) are from this island and it is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which makes it an “Overseas Country and Territory”(OCT) of the European Community, and therefore has preferential access to the European Community for doing excellent business with. And the island possesses the North Eastern Caribbean location, which is close to the US, makes it excellent for business travel as well. MARLIN YARD followed the business development of St. Maarten. And noticed the huge growth of foreign offshore companies establishing their offices on the island while the Antillean locals welcomed the job opportunities. The Government of St. Maarten encourages the Antillean locals to start their own business in order to balance the count of foreign companies with their business opportunities. Despite the encouragement for Antillean business starters, feasible studies showed that education and correct guidance are not always to the island inhabitants disposal.

The outcome of our research shows that the island locals will welcome MARLIN YARD services in helping them realizing their business dreams.
