What we do

Food Farm Gardens partners with community gardens in St. Maarten and aims to take care of the business side of gardening and give you more time to get dirty in the garden! We also offer gardening advice and workshops. Operating from our historic 20-acre Plantation Succour site, our gardens include:

Traditional Community Gardens where people rent a plot to grow their own fresh produce. We offer 324 individual plots starting at 30 m2 / 323 ft2 @ XCG 189 ($ 105) per year and 50 m2 / 538 ft2 @ XCG 315 ($175) per year among preserved 300+ year-old heritage walls, creating a unique connection between Caribbean history and sustainable agriculture.

Educational Gardens where we teach gardening, landscaping, nutrition and cooking through our HAICI School for Agriculture. Our comprehensive programs range from 3-month sustainable farming courses to 24-month agripreneur development, combining traditional Caribbean wisdom with modern sustainable practices.

Urban Farms where volunteers grow vegetables for local markets and people in need. Our CCIV (Caribbean Community of Impact Volunteers) program connects international volunteers with local food security initiatives, supporting both The Keys Market and community distribution programs.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) where different food cultivation methods are applied for bigger yield of vegetables, herbs and fruit. Our advanced Cooling House technology will be producing 324,000 kg annually, serving 400+ member families with weekly harvest deliveries. Applied methods include aquaponics, hydroponics, permaculture and greenhouse tillage, with special focus on hurricane-resistant growing systems.

Vision

We envision a garden network for St. Maarten where people of all ages and backgrounds live healthy, active lives in a clean environment by growing fresh food. This network fosters the meeting of people from diverse backgrounds to share experience and knowledge, promote urban agriculture and economic justice, provide leadership and job training, and grow more beautiful and sustainable communities. Through our transformation of historic Plantation Succour, we prove that small islands can achieve big agricultural impact through community collaboration and sustainable innovation.

Mission

Our mission is to strengthen communities by building and supporting community gardens where every person in St. Maarten can grow healthy food in their neighbourhood. Operating from our historic Plantation Succour site, we preserve 300+ years of Caribbean heritage while building climate-resilient food systems through Community Gardens, CSA programs, and HAICI agricultural education. Our most important task is to encourage Food Security while representing the interests of our members and advancing UN Sustainable Development Goals through community empowerment and sustainable agriculture.
